Why Is Electric Motor Recycling A Profitable Business?

Items like vacuums, computers, ceiling fans, air conditioners etc have electric motors for proper functioning of these electronic devices. Once these items become old and are not in a usable condition, it becomes important for electric motor recycling as these motors contain a large amount of copper wire which can be reused.

Like battery recycling in Brisbane, electric motor recycling is very important as it helps in reusing of different metals present in items like electric motors. Different components in an electric motor that can be recyclable are
  • Shaft
  • Copper windings
  • Bearings
  • Armature
  • Stator
  • Terminals
  • Case

In general recyclers or scrap dealers buy these fans, pumps, blowers etc as scrap and take them to recycling centers. The specialists at these places separate recyclable parts and set them apart for further processing. Items like electric motors are hundred percent recyclable as they are made of different metals.

Recycling electric motors reduces landfills, solid waste and pollution. Recycling electric motors help protect natural resources like copper which is the main component of electric motor. Generally recycling of such materials is done in a large scale, so it saves a lot of time and metals extracted in the process is further processed for reuse.

Most motors contain copper and aluminum components. The exterior of these motors is made of strong steel which protects sensitive wiring and parts inside the motor. Few motors contain aluminum wiring instead of copper.

Scrap dealers collect as many motors as possible to collect maximum amount of copper as few motors do not have that metal. Once scrap dealers separate copper from other metals, it is sent to industries which manufacture new motors or other industries that need copper. The rest materials are separated as ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Metals like aluminum and steel are also sent for melting so that they can be reused.
